Old Woman Creek Messabout, Huron, OH.

at this place you paddle a bit but then you stop, lean way back, throw both legs over the side and just take it all in: the pale yellow of the american lotus, the white of the egrets, the red of Ric Altfather's Chestnut canoe.

Jim Battieger showed-off his Wee Rob Lapstrake decked canoe (or kayak) on her first major outing since completing the Iain Oughtred design.

George Miller explored the Creek's Lake Erie outlet in his kayak he described as too tippy.

George and stephanie Ricketts found paddling upstream quite easy with no current to work against.

The Wide open estuary area at the mouth of the creek narrowed to a slack water stream as the group paddled south.

By noon, the party was over. Ric Altfather and his son Jeff carried the Chestnut back to the truck. Time for lunch with the gang!
